In the effort to increase tree and forest cover, enriching biodiversity and addressing climate change mitigation measures, our ERRIL project focuses to eliminate deforestation and building a resilient community in Nyandarua and a Section of Laikipia Counties, Kenya in support from ECOSIA with a target to plant 150,000 indigenous trees. Through community engagement and mind blowing to create the conservation mind to the target community members, Caritas Catholic Diocese of Nyahururu has strengthened collaboration with the school childreen, farmers, state and non-state actors all together to address the objectives. Integration of our activities in schools included Gatimo Special School as a build up towards creating environmental stewardship champions. In addition, the project collaborated with the National Government Administration Officers (NGAO) in marking Chiefs Climate Day, a monthly event as part of national government initiative towards realization of 15 billion trees by 2030. A total of 178,000 trees have been planted.
