CATHOLIC DIOCESE OF NYAHURURU
The Catholic Diocese of Nyahururu (CDN) was constituted by the Holy Father, His Holiness John Paul II on 5th December 2002 from the Archdiocese of Nyeri. The Diocese is a corporate body created under the perpetual successor of the law of Kenya, and created by the Roman Catholic Church in accordance with the Canon 372#1 whose main objective is to exercise Pastoral Office of Christ to evangelize to the people in the jurisdiction within specific boundaries. The authority of the Catholic diocese of Nyahururu (CDN) is vested on the Bishop of Catholic Diocese of Nyahururu (CDN) who holds the ordinary powers (canon 375#2 and canon 381)

The jurisdiction of the Diocese covers Nyandarua County, Laikipia West Constituency of Laikipia County and Mochongoi Division of Baringo County in Kenya. Within these boundaries, the Diocese is subdivided into six Deaneries namely from which the Diocese has 37Parishes. The administrative headquarter is located in Nyahururu town, which has the Cathedral and the Episcopal. The Diocese is currently headed by Rt. Rev Bishop Mbatia who took over from Bishop Emeritus Luigi Paiaro in 2012

A department in the Diocese that implements community development programmes in the areas of climate change, livelihoods improvements, faith and Justice and economic empowerment project is Caritas Nyahururu, borne in the year 2010

GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT PROCEDURES

THE BISHOP

Rt. Rev. Bishop Joseph Mbatia of Catholic Diocese of Nyahururu is the overall overseer of the management of Caritas Nyahururu. The Bishop is in charge of appointing the BOARD, whose membership is drawn from professionals representing various interests

CARITAS NYAHURURU BOARD

It is a composition of Priests and lay people who offer professional and technical expertise to ensure that the department realizes its intended role of development. They are responsible for overseeing overall implementation of policies, strategic plans and action plans for Caritas Nyahururu.

CARITAS NYAHURURU DIRECTOR

The Director, Rev, Fr. Samuel Mwaniki, is the appointee of the Bishop, who is in charge of implementing policies and procedures laid down by the Caritas Board. He also acts as the Secretary to the Board.
