Community members from those villages embraced the community-led total sanitation approach since the triggering phase, which has seen the villages make strides towards this ODF status. They proudly celebrated this major public health milestone. The achievement was reached through the collective efforts of household heads, community members, local community & church leaders, community health promoters, and the Diocese of Nyahururu WASH program with the support of Cross Catholic Outreach, working together to improve sanitation and hygiene standards.
More than 1,000 households have now adopted improved sanitation and hygiene practices, marking a significant step towards a healthier and cleaner environment for the community.
The ODF status reflects the commitment of residents to end open defecation and promote dignity, safety, and disease prevention across their communities.
The celebration brought together stakeholders and community members to recognize the hard work and dedication that made this milestone possible. Certificates were awarded during the event, while newly installed ODF signboards now stand as symbols of progress and community transformation.
