After triggering, follow-up, and verification of Open Defecation Free (ODF) status, quality assurance confirms that communities maintain safe, hygienic, and durable WASH practices. With the support of Cross Catholic Outreach, the Diocese of Nyahururu WASH program, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health WASH hub officials and the Department of Health Services Laikipia County-Kenya, successfully conducted Quality Assurance (QA), the final stage in Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) for the twelve (12) villages of Ndindika Sub Location, Laikipia County, that had successfully passed the certification stage, which ensures sanitation and hygiene improvements are not only achieved but also sustained over time. The process involved checking and monitoring of safe sanitation practices, proper latrine construction and usage, handwashing facilities availability and use, safe water handling and storage, environmental cleanliness, and sustainability of ODF status. The end goal is to ensure that communities do not relapse into open defecation and that sanitation facilities meet acceptable health standards.
