Through Community Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) approach, the Diocese of Nyahururu WASH Program supported by Cross Catholic Outreach adopted market based sanitation training principled to focus on creating demand for improved sanitation, capacity building of 45 local sanitation champions (local artisans, community health promoters & village sanitation committees) to improve access to sanitation products and services by creating demand, strengthening supply, and encouraging private sector participation. The training was moderated by Lixil Cooporation group that manufactures SATO products. The approach aimed to ensure that sanitation services continue even after external support ends encouraging households to invest in their own toilets.
