This day was commemorated in Laikipia West Sub-County of Laikipia County through an awareness and sensitization activity at Kisima Comprehensive School.
The event was organized by the Diocese of Nyahururu WASH Program in conjunction with the Department of Health Services Laikipia County, and the local education sector, with the school administration, through the support of Cross Catholic Outreach.
The commemoration focused on promoting menstrual hygiene awareness, dignity, and the well-being of adolescent girls through peer education and student-led learning activities. Menstrual hygiene management presentations were dramatized through skits and role-play to strengthen learning, sharing knowledge on proper menstrual hygiene practices, personal hygiene, and the importance of maintaining good health during menstruation.
The peer-to-peer health education approach created an interactive platform where students openly discussed menstrual health issues, breaking stigma and misconceptions surrounding menstruation. It also emphasized the importance of supporting girls to remain comfortable, confident, and active in school during their menstrual periods. # Together for a period-friendly world #.
