On 13th April 2026, we hosted the Fastenaktion team from Switzerland for a field visit to the project area – Mochongoi Division of Baringo County. The visit brought together the Coordination team (Act 4 Change), the Caritas Catholic Diocese of Nyahururu CATAFS project staff, project animators, and community members from Pamoja Twajimudu solidarity group. The day concentrated on reflection of how agroecology has transformed the lives of the beneficiaries through household kitchen gardens , food forests, poultry value chain, savings, and peace.
Pamoja Twajimudu Solidarity group shared on how they have adopted the savings approach that has strengthened household food security, supported their ill-health conditions, paid for their children’s school fees at the same time helped them purchase seedlings for their kitchen gardens and food forests. The team toured kitchen gardens and food forests where farmers grow nutritious food using agroecological practices. These approaches restore soil fertility, reducing farming costs by small holder farmers, hence improving food security. The feminist approach shared their stories where women have empowered themselves through selling their products including: tie & die fabrics, soap -making, and bead-making. Through selling of these products, the groups have enhanced their income generating streams for household use and savings. The solidarity approach was evidenced during the conflict period where through peace-building the area now has experienced peace making it easy for implementation and harmonious coexistence within the project areas. In conclusion, the visit was more than a monitoring but instead created a moment of mutual learning, solidarity, and renewed hope that shall shape the future collaboration.
